Overall, the number of fatal injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents has been reduced over the last 10 years. In the year 2003, 42,884 were killed in car accidents.

In 2013, that number dropped to 32,719.

The death rate in the United States for 2013 was approximately one out of every 10,000 U.S. residents. The number of fatal accidents varies from state by state.

Florida ranks as number 20 in the list of most dangerous states to drive in.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration’s Florida Highway Safety Improvement Program 2014 Report, the number of fatalities, serious injuries, fatality rate and serious injury rate are listed below:
