Crash In Deland Kills Woman and Three Children

On Tuesday, April 5, 2016, a car accident took the lives of a woman and three children. The Jeep Wrangler was traveling east on State Road 44 when Alan Seidel of DeLand traveling south on Grand drove into the path of the Jeep.

Ms. Burch, a witness from Paisley was stopped at Grand Avenue and stated the Jeep spun around before it landed on its roof and then fire erupted. Ms. Burch also stated she heard the babies crying before the fire. She was very upset by the crash.

This intersection has had several accidents and Sheriff Ben Johnson was emotional as he talked with reporters near the scene. He said that drivers crossing State Road have the danger of high speed traffic approaching.

Seidel has three DUI arrests in the past but the preliminary report does not state alcohol as a factor in this crash.
Florida law requires drivers convicted of DUI to purchase a minimum level of insurance that is drastically more than drivers without DUI. Don’t rely on insurance adjusters to know all the Florida laws that could drastically affect a potential case.
